Air Traffic Grounded as Anak Krakatau Eruption Shrouds Jakarta in Ash
Volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau halted operations at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, suspending hundreds of flights (including 58 international) and prompting alternative landing plans as ash clouds reached up to 6,000 m over Java and up to 15,000 m toward Sumatra and Banten. Singapore Airlines canceled Jakarta flights for the day; BNPB said there is no tsunami risk and considered cloud-seeding to wash away ash.
