Tragedy Strikes as 5 Young Women Killed in Minneapolis Crash, Son of Former Rep. John Thompson Arrested.
Derrick John Thompson, son of former state Rep. John Thompson, has been arrested and booked on suspicion of murder in connection with a fatal crash that killed four young women and one teenage girl in Minneapolis. Thompson has a history of convictions, including a 2018 hit-and-run in California. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara is investigating the release of the suspect's name and leaked Metro Transit surveillance video of the crash. The Hennepin County Attorney said the suspect will be charged soon and criticized the unauthorized release of a graphic video of the crash. Over $380,000 has been raised to support the families of the victims.
