Harris: Trump Must Face Accountability for Jan. 6
Vice President Kamala Harris stated that those involved in the attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election and the subsequent violence at the U.S. Capitol, including former President Donald Trump, must be held accountable. Harris, who has a background as a prosecutor, emphasized the importance of upholding the law and ensuring accountability for those who break it. While the White House has been cautious in addressing Trump's criminal charges, Harris and President Joe Biden have expressed concerns about the threat to American democracy. Harris made these remarks during her attendance at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Indonesia, where she also discussed the U.S.'s commitment to the region and addressed issues such as China's territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additionally, Harris dismissed concerns about Biden's age and expressed readiness to assume the role of president if necessary.
