CDC warns of rising RSV cases in Southeastern US, particularly Florida

The CDC has issued a warning about increased respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) activity in parts of the Southeastern United States. While nationwide RSV cases have remained below the season onset threshold, Florida has seen PCR positivity above 3.0% for several weeks, and Georgia has reported an increase in RSV-associated hospitalizations, particularly among infants. RSV is a common respiratory virus that can cause serious illness and hospitalizations, especially in infants and older adults. The CDC recommends monoclonal antibody products for infants and young children and two new vaccines for older adults to protect against severe RSV disease. RSV is primarily transmitted through respiratory droplets and direct contact with contaminated surfaces.
