Eight-day bush search ends in tragedy as Sydney teen is found dead
An 18-year-old Sydney hiker, Lily Hooper, who vanished while walking in Nattai National Park on Aug 12, has been found dead in the Southern Highlands after an eight-day, multi-agency search. Identification is pending; initial reports she was alive were corrected by the NSW Premier. The operation involved multiple NSW Police units, PolAir, Rescue, and support from the Rural Fire Service, National Parks and Wildlife Service, and about 100 Australian Defence Force personnel.
