Sony Cease-and-Desist Halts Fan-Made Last of Us Part II Multiplayer Mod
Sony Interactive Entertainment issued a cease-and-desist letter to modder Speclizer, forcing the cancellation of a fan-made multiplayer mod for The Last of Us Part II. The project, which aimed to recreate the 'Factions' mode from the original game, had been in development since January 2026 and was scheduled for release in September. Speclizer confirmed the shutdown on social media, stating the mod will not be released. This follows Naughty Dog's 2023 cancellation of its own standalone multiplayer title, The Last of Us Online. Speclizer has since teased a new, unrelated project, while the original Factions mode remains playable only on the PS4 remaster.
