China emphasizes need for stable relations with US, scolds envoy over Taiwan.
China's foreign minister, Qin Gang, has said that the US has placed relations between the two countries on "cold ice" due to a "series of erroneous words and deeds," but stabilizing ties is a "top priority." Qin urged the US to "meet China halfway" to push bilateral relations out of their current predicament and respect China's bottom lines, particularly on the issue of Taiwan. The US has been calling on China to open all of the channels suspended following Nancy Pelosi's Taiwan trip, and Blinken's visit to China will be rescheduled "when conditions are appropriate."
