"University of Florida Terminates DEI Staff to Comply with State Law"
The University of Florida has eliminated all staff positions related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and closed the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer to comply with a state mandate prohibiting the use of funds for DEI-related work. Employees affected by the cuts will receive 12 weeks of severance pay and assistance in finding new positions within the university. Florida governor Ron DeSantis celebrated the decision, stating that DEI has no place in public universities and has previously taken actions against DEI-related education initiatives in the state.
