Construction-Phase Collapse on Old Town Bridge Injures Worker
A Stillwater Avenue bridge in Old Town, Maine—under reconstruction—collapsed around 1:45 p.m. Thursday as workers poured concrete, injuring one person who was taken to the emergency department. Dozens of Maine DOT workers were on scene; traffic was diverted to a temporary bridge that reopened by about 2:50 p.m. The cause is under investigation as MDOT continues replacement work on the Llewellyn Estes Bridge over the Stillwater River.
