DTE offers automatic $42 outage credit after Detroit-area storms

After Friday’s storms hit metro Detroit, DTE Energy will automatically credit eligible customers with $42 for extended outages. Credit thresholds cover outages of 16+ hours (affecting up to 1% of customers), 48+ hours (1–10%), and 96+ hours under catastrophic conditions (10%+). The credit will appear on bills without any application. At the outage’s peak more than 400,000 customers were without power.
