Netflix to implement password-sharing crackdown in the US.
Netflix will launch a "new improved version" of paid password sharing in the US by the end of Q2, which will be more complicated than just sharing a login with someone. The company has been exploring ways to crack down on password sharing, including a log-in verification process and the use of sub-accounts for people living outside the account owner's home. Netflix has introduced sub-accounts in other countries, which allow account holders to add up to two people who live outside their household to their plan for an extra fee. The company expects some users to leave amid the shift to paid sharing, but hopes to attract new users with improved offerings.
