PS5SX2 Update Enables Physical PS2 Disc Play on Jailbroken Consoles
Homebrew developer Swordpdf has added physical disc support to PS5SX2, a native PlayStation 2 emulator for jailbroken PS5 consoles. Released as version 2.01 on October 10, 2026, the update allows users to insert original PS2 DVDs, which are then copied to the console's SSD for playback. A subsequent update, version 2.02, introduced experimental support for external USB drives, enabling Digital Edition owners to use physical media. While the emulator renders at up to 6x the native resolution, it requires a jailbroken system and does not support CD-based PS2 titles due to hardware limitations.
