MTV Movie & TV Awards Faces Talent Backlash Amid Writers' Strike
The Writers Guild of America is planning to picket the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday as part of their ongoing strike against Hollywood studios and streamers. In response, Drew Barrymore dropped out as host and some presenters have canceled their appearances. It is unclear if more talent will follow suit, as a picket line could create a difficult situation for members of other unions. MTV has a contract with the WGA, and some of its members worked on the show before the strike for MoonMan Productions, the Viacom subsidiary.
