Man fatally shot by law enforcement on Highway 290 near Manor identified
The Travis County Sheriff's Office identified the man shot and killed by law enforcement officials as 25-year-old Dimitri Amarillas. The incident occurred after a 911 call reported a man walking in the middle of the roadway, followed by an attempted carjacking where someone was stabbed. The suspect, who was holding a knife and non-compliant, was shot by a TCSO deputy and an MPD officer after taser deployment failed. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation, and both officers are on administrative duty pending the outcome.
