
Texas Militia Member Sentenced to Prison for Capitol Riot Attack on Police
Donald Hazard, a member of the Texas militia called the Patriot Boys of North Texas, has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for assaulting police officers during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Hazard, who wore a tactical vest and a helmet adorned with the image of the Confederate battle flag, grabbed a Capitol police officer and pulled him down a set of concrete steps, knocking him unconscious. He also fell on another Capitol police officer whose head hit the concrete. Over 1,000 people have been charged with federal crimes related to the riot, with more than half receiving terms of imprisonment ranging from seven days to over 14 years.
