
90s film staple Samuel Monroe Jr. dies at 52 after meningitis battle
Samuel Monroe Jr., known for 1990s films such as Menace II Society, Tales from the Hood and The Players Club, died at 52 in Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank after more than a year battling meningitis, which his wife says was repeatedly misdiagnosed during treatment in Las Vegas; he had been on life support since April. He leaves behind his mother, wife Shawna Stewart and three children, and his family had launched a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses.
