Millions of Thermos Bottles Recalled Over Ejecting Stoppers Causing Eye Injuries
Thermos is recalling more than eight million insulated bottles and jars due to a stopper design flaw that can build pressure and violently eject the stopper when opened, risking serious injury including three cases of permanent blindness. The company has logged 27 reports of injuries, tied to models sold from 2008 through July 2024 at Target, Walmart and online marketplaces like Amazon. Affected products include the 16-oz Stainless King Food Jar, 40-oz Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottle, and 24-oz Stainless King Food Jar. Consumers should stop using these recalled bottles immediately. The recall underscores ongoing concerns about safety in insulated bottles, even as some brands face separate past controversies over other hazards.
