An 18-year-old transgender student in Maryland, Alex Ye, has been arrested for allegedly planning mass shootings at two schools in a bid to become famous. Ye, who identifies as male, was charged with threatening mass violence after authoring a 129-page document detailing the planned attacks. The document, which Ye claimed was fiction, included disturbing descriptions of the intended violence. Authorities were alerted by a person who found striking similarities between the document and Ye's life. Ye is currently in custody pending a bond hearing, and the investigation was conducted jointly by the Montgomery County police and the FBI.
