Tom Petty's Mudcrutch Bandmate and Co-Founder, Tom Leadon, Dies at 70
Tom Leadon, co-founder of Tom Petty's early band Mudcrutch and brother of original Eagles guitarist Bernie Leadon, has died at the age of 70. Leadon reunited with Petty in 2008 for a couple of albums and tours. He was an accomplished musician and the reason Tom reformed Mudcrutch. Leadon kept a low profile throughout the Eighties and Nineties, eventually moving to Nashville and working as a guitar teacher. He continued to perform solo shows until shortly before his death.
