Florida Mother Leaves Babies Unattended in Car to Visit Bar
A mother in West Melbourne, Florida, was arrested after leaving her 2-year-old and 8-month-old babies alone in an unlocked car with the engine running while she went into a bar. The police discovered the children asleep in the backseat of the idling vehicle and found that the mother had been inside the bar for at least 20 minutes without regard for her children's welfare. The mother was charged with child neglect, and the children were handed over to a family member while the Department of Children and Families conducts a follow-up investigation.
