Sony's Unprofessional Patent Language Targets Rivals
Sony has been criticised by patent expert Florian Mueller for referring to rival console manufacturers as "inferior" in its patent applications. Mueller called the practice "childish" and "unprofessional" and noted that Sony has been doing this since at least 2011. Sony's latest patent application for a universal controller refers to non-PlayStation products as "inferior". Mueller explained that while it's common for some patents to explain why the invention is superior to what's already available, calling competitors generally "inferior" is gratuitous, stupid, childish, and unprofessional.
