
U.S. State Senator Jeff Wilson Arrested in Hong Kong for Gun in Carry-On Bag
U.S. state Senator Jeff Wilson from Washington state was arrested in Hong Kong for having an unregistered pistol in his carry-on luggage during a flight. Wilson, who claimed it was an honest mistake, was granted bail and had a court hearing set for October 30. Possession of arms without a license in Hong Kong carries a maximum penalty of 14 years in jail and a fine of HK$100,000 ($12,800). The U.S. Transportation Security Administration is currently investigating the circumstances, while the TSA has confiscated a record number of firearms from airport passengers in 2022.
