Zoom's AI Tools: Ownership, Privacy, and Policy Updates
Zoom's chief product officer, Smita Hashim, has clarified that the company's new AI tools do not infringe on customer ownership of content. This comes after concerns were raised about changes to Zoom's terms of service, which appeared to grant the company broad control over user data for AI purposes. Hashim emphasized that customers continue to own and control their content, and Zoom only uses customer content to provide value-added services. The company has also stated that user data will not be used to train third-party models. Zoom is not the only company facing scrutiny over AI-related terms of service updates, as Google recently updated its privacy policy to include the use of public data for training AI tools.
