The Terra restaurant inside Valley Fair’s Eataly was temporarily closed after Santa Clara County health inspectors found a live cockroach near the hand-wash sink and dead roaches; after a follow-up inspection and remediation in coordination with the health department, the restaurant reopened.
Westfield's San Francisco mall is being abandoned while its Valley Fair mall saw record high sales last year, up 66% from 2019 levels. A major reason for Valley Fair's growth is a $1.1 billion expansion that added around 700,000 square feet of space. Other factors include a strong roster of restaurants that bring in visitors and a safe and clean environment. In contrast, San Francisco mall foot traffic has fallen sharply, down 42% in 2022 compared to 2019.
