Allegra Edwards has been cast as Liz, the female lead opposite Ed Weeks, in CBS’s vampire comedy pilot Eternally Yours from Ghosts creators Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. Edwards, known for Ghosts and Upload, joins Jaren Lewison as Max in a story about Liz and Charles—two 500-year-old vampires—navigating love and family life as their daughter dates a human.
Renfield, a New Orleans-set vampire comedy starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as his long-suffering servant, fails to live up to its promising premise and turns into a generic crime drama with excessive gore. Cage and Hoult deliver entertaining performances, but the tired plot mechanics and convoluted screenplay minimize the hilariously dysfunctional Dracula/Renfield relationship. The film is part of Universal Pictures' attempts to capitalize on its classic monsters IP.
