Border Patrol Chief Challenges DHS Operational Control of US Southern Border.
Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz disagreed with the Biden administration's decision to end border wall construction, stating that infrastructure would help agents do their job. He supports barrier systems in concentrated areas, especially urban areas, but does not believe in a wall from sea to shining sea. Ortiz also expressed support for the "Remain-in-Mexico" policy and policies that allow repatriation of individuals back to their home countries. DHS said that new programs, technology, and investments are making a real impact in securing the border.
