Gaza Faces 15-Year Struggle to Clear 40 Million Tons of War Rubble, Says UN
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) estimates that clearing 40 million tonnes of war rubble in Gaza, containing unexploded ordnance and harmful substances, will take 15 years and cost over $500 million. The destruction has regressed Gaza's human development index by 40 years, with overall reconstruction costs estimated between $40 billion and $50 billion.
