The US Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new limits on levels of six PFAS chemicals in public water systems, with two of the most well-studied and potentially toxic chemicals, PFOA and PFOS, not to exceed 4 parts per trillion in drinking water. For people concerned about PFAS exposure, they can look up levels of PFAS in their local public water system, purchase a test online or from a certified lab, and purchase a water filter for their tap. Drinking water is not the only way PFAS enters the bloodstream, as thousands of varieties of PFAS are used in many of the products we purchase.
