The switch from a smooth puck charger to pogo pins in the new Pixel Watch 2 highlights the design challenges faced by smartwatches and wearables. Wearable devices are often too small for USB-C connectors, and the design of smartwatches limits charging areas to the bottom perimeter or sides of the device.
