Texas hosts first White House–backed tests for electric air taxis
Texas launches a White House–backed pilot program to test electric, hybrid-electric, and autonomous eVTOLs with Joby, Beta, and Wisk. Over a week, the companies will fly passenger-free test routes between cities and regional airports (including Dallas–Fort Worth) to collect data for potential certification and help shape future regulations, with additional tests planned nationwide. Regulators will monitor air-traffic control handling while developers push toward type certification, despite tech hurdles like battery weight and sensor decisions and ongoing corporate legal battles.
