Listeria Outbreak Prompts Massive Meat Recall After Multiple Deaths and Illnesses
Yu Shang Food Inc. is recalling over 72,000 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to a listeria outbreak that has resulted in 11 illnesses, nine hospitalizations, and the death of an infant across four states. The products, distributed nationwide, tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Consumers are advised to discard or return the recalled items and clean any surfaces they contacted. Listeriosis, caused by listeria, poses severe risks, especially to older adults, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems.
