Magic conjures road upset in Detroit to take Game 1

Orlando seized Game 1 on Detroit’s home floor, 112-101, taking a 1-0 series lead and earning the Magic’s first road playoff win since 2020. The win underscored Orlando’s revival as Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner teamed with Jalen Suggs to pace the offense, while Detroit—rested for a week—came out tight and couldn’t sustain a productive halfcourt attack despite 39 points from Cade Cunningham. Jalen Duren was crowded in the paint and held to eight points as the Pistons’ rust showed. Four takeaways: Orlando’s resurgence appears real; Pistons showed rest-vs-rust rust; Banchero-Wagner-Suggs trio clicked; Duren needs to reclaim postseason impact.
