"Texas Plant of Largest US Egg Producer Shuts Down Temporarily Due to Bird Flu Outbreak"

Cal-Maine Foods, the largest U.S. fresh egg producer, has temporarily halted production at a Texas plant after bird flu was found in chickens, leading to the destruction of approximately 1.6 million laying hens and 337,000 pullets. The virus has also been detected at a poultry facility in Michigan. The company is working to secure production from other facilities to minimize disruption to its customers, and there is no known bird flu risk associated with eggs currently in the market. Additionally, a person in Texas has been diagnosed with bird flu after contact with infected cows, marking the first known instance globally of a person catching this version of bird flu from a mammal.
