"New York Engineer Suspended for Grave Error in Bronx Building Collapse"

The engineer responsible for inspecting a Bronx apartment building that partially collapsed has been suspended by New York City officials after it was discovered that he had misdiagnosed a structural column as a "decorative" element. The city plans to permanently revoke the engineer's authority to inspect building facades. While no one was killed or seriously injured in the collapse, over 170 residents were left homeless. The Bronx district attorney's office and the city's Department of Investigation are conducting investigations into the cause of the collapse.
