EU to include carry-on in ticket price from 2027, ending bag fees

EU Parliament approves rules requiring airlines to include both a small personal item and a larger hand luggage in the standard ticket price from 2027, effectively ending carry-on fees; a free personal item and a wheeled bag up to 7 kg and 100 cm total size will be allowed, with discounts for not taking extra baggage, and other passenger-rights provisions cover seating next to children, compensation for long delays (300 euros on long-haul flights, 600 euros for delays over four hours or cancellations), better assistance for missed connections, and bans on certain fees like fees for spelling corrections or name changes and on no-show penalties; rules aim to boost consumer rights but may raise ticket prices and have faced 13 years of political wrangling.
