"Unveiling Gigantopithecus: The Truth Behind the Largest Ape in History"

A viral photograph claiming to show a man standing next to a Gigantopithecus, the largest ape ever known, has been rated as "Miscaptioned." The image actually depicts special effects artist William Munns alongside a model of Gigantopithecus he created. The model, often mistaken for evidence of Bigfoot, was intended for museum display and is based on scientific evidence, not on promoting belief in mythical creatures. Munns' work has been mistakenly associated with Bigfoot due to the size and appearance of the model, but he has clarified that the creation was not intended to suggest the existence of such creatures.
