"No Charges Filed in Nex Benedict School Fight Death, Says Tulsa County DA"

Oklahoma prosecutors have decided not to press charges in the case of Nex Benedict, a 16-year-old nonbinary student whose death was ruled a suicide. Nex had been targeted by bullies due to their gender identity and was involved in a fight with classmates the day before their death. Despite the fight being a factor, the district attorney stated there was not enough evidence to press charges. The case has sparked demonstrations and calls for bullying law reforms, highlighting the disproportionately high suicide rates among transgender youth.
