"Bilkis Bano: The Journey to Justice in India's Supreme Court"

India's Supreme Court restored life prison sentences for 11 men who had raped Bilkis Bano during the 2002 Gujarat riots, overturning their release by the state government. Bano's long legal battle for justice, emblematic of survivors' struggles, saw the convicts initially sentenced in 2008. The release was based on a remission policy, but the Supreme Court ruled it violated the transfer of the case from Gujarat to Maharashtra, ordering the convicts to surrender. The decision is seen as a step towards justice for Bano and her family.
