Fatal water incident at Lake Macbride leaves one dead, child missing after school field trip

Emergency crews suspended an overnight search for a missing child at Lake Macbride State Park on Tuesday after recovering the body of an adult from the Coralville Reservoir. The incident occurred during a fifth-grade field trip organized by the Iowa City Community School District. Authorities confirmed the adult was pronounced dead at the scene, while the juvenile remains unaccounted for. The University of Iowa has canceled all future 'School of the Wild' trips indefinitely following the tragedy.
