Wizards of the Coast Issues Mea Culpa Over The Zeta Set Launch Debacle

Wizards of the Coast apologized for a chaotic rollout of Chaos Vault’s The Zeta Set Secret Lair MTG release, saying it was a disaster. Despite warning customers with 24 hours’ notice and a pre-queue system, the launch saw delays, a paused queue, rapid stock depletion, and reports of orders not receiving confirmations. EU buyers reported available-to-out-of-stock transitions as queues froze. WotC is investigating the root cause—whether internal systems issues or external tampering—and pledges to reach out to affected customers and make things right as it untangles what went wrong.

Even 10 Billion Pokémon Cards Can’t Calm the Card Chaos

The Pokémon Company says it has printed over 85 billion Pokémon cards since 1996, with more than 10% of that total produced in the last year alone, but demand still outpaces supply. Booster packs remain scarce at retailers, and scalpers keep price gouging despite expansions like Scarlet & Violet–Prismatic Evolutions. The company plans to print more at max capacity, raising questions about whether even multi‑billion card runs (15B, 20B) or measures like buyer verification could finally curb the chaos.
