"The Idol" Episode 3: Tedros' Dominance and Controversy Explained

In episode 3 of "The Idol," Tedros takes control of Jocelyn's life and micromanages every aspect of it, including her music. He and his followers believe that good art comes out of pain and that one is not allowed to say "no" to anything. During a dinner party, Tedros pressures Jocelyn to divulge her secrets and reveal how her mother abused her. The episode ends with Jocelyn being beaten by Tedros with a hairbrush as his followers watch. The show uses Jocelyn's past abuse to push her deeper into a new abusive relationship, and the finale sequence is titillating and exploitative.
