Airbnb Ends Guest Chores: New Rules Ban Bed Stripping and Dishwashing

Airbnb has introduced new house rules that prohibit hosts from requiring guests to perform burdensome cleaning tasks, such as stripping beds, washing dishes, or removing trash off-site. Effective for reservations booked on or after November 20, 2026, the policy aims to standardize checkout procedures and eliminate confusing or onerous demands. The company stated that these changes should ensure checkout requests are reasonable and free from hidden fees or surprises, addressing long-standing complaints about guests paying cleaning fees yet still performing labor typically handled by professional cleaners.
