LAUSD chief resigns amid FBI probe

Alberto Carvalho, superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, resigned on Sunday four months after being placed on paid leave during a federal investigation, with the FBI having searched his home and the district’s headquarters. Acting superintendent Andrés Chait will remain in place until a permanent leader is named, as the district emphasizes stability and continued progress for its more than 500,000 students.
