Vatican Assembly to Assess 'Amoris Laetitia' Amidst Declining Church Marriages

Pope Leo XIV has convened a week-long assembly of global bishops to evaluate the implementation of the 2016 exhortation 'Amoris Laetitia.' While the public debate centers on the controversial footnote regarding Communion for the divorced and remarried, Vatican officials emphasize that the primary focus is on the sharp decline in church marriages and the need for new pastoral strategies. The assembly aims to produce a synthesis report on how to better support families, rather than issuing a new doctrinal document.
