Commanders overhaul TE coaching staff after Ben Steele arrest

The Washington Commanders parted ways with tight ends coach Ben Steele after his June 7 arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, plus charges for refusing the field breath test, obstruction/resisting an officer without force, and changing course without a signal. Steele, who spent three seasons coaching Cardinals tight ends before joining Washington in 2026, was dismissed for violating team policy and there is currently no assistant tight ends coach on staff. With Steele out, Wes Welker coached the tight ends during mandatory minicamp, and head coach Dan Quinn could announce a replacement soon.
