Auto Industry Sees Mixed Results in Q2 Sales Performance

Ford's overall EV sales fell by 2.8% in Q2, despite the strong performance of its electric pickup, the F-150 Lightning, which saw sales rise by 118.7% compared to last year. The Mustang Mach-E, Ford's first electric car, experienced a decline in sales of 21.1% year-on-year. However, improved inventory flow and production ramp-up in June helped boost Mach-E sales by 110%. Ford's electric van, the E-Transit, also saw a decrease in sales. The disappointing EV sales results for Ford and GM highlight the challenges faced by legacy automakers in meeting demand and overcoming supply chain hurdles, while purely EV makers like Tesla, Rivian, and Polestar continue to post record results.
