Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 92,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a fire risk caused by an electronic controller in the oil pump. Owners are advised to park the vehicles outside and away from structures until repairs are made. The recall includes certain 2023 and 2024 models of Hyundai Palisades, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, and Kona, as well as Kia Soul, Sportage, and Seltos vehicles. The companies have reported incidents of melting components but no fires or injuries. Dealers will inspect and replace the oil pump controller if necessary, with notifications to owners starting on September 25th.
