Tesla Cleared of Responsibility in Fatal Autopilot Crash Trial

Tesla has won its first trial in the United States over allegations that its Autopilot feature was responsible for a fatal crash. The case, filed by two passengers involved in a 2019 crash, accused Tesla of knowing that Autopilot was defective when it sold the car. However, the jury found that the vehicle did not have a manufacturing defect, with a vote of 9-3. Tesla has faced several similar lawsuits across the country and has been testing and rolling out its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems, which have drawn regulatory and legal scrutiny.
