"US Investigates Ford Engine Failures in Over 700,000 Vehicles"

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has expanded its investigation into Ford Motor Co. engine failures, now covering nearly 709,000 vehicles including the F-150 pickup truck, Explorer, Bronco, Edge, Lincoln Nautilus, and Aviator SUVs from the 2021 and 2022 model years. The investigation, upgraded to an engineering analysis, focuses on 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engines that can lose power due to catastrophic engine failure related to allegedly faulty valves. Ford reported 861 customer complaints, warranty claims, and engine replacements, but no crashes or injuries have been reported. The company stated that most of the failures have already occurred and it has made valve design changes to address the issue.
