FAA Enhances Oversight of Boeing Production and Manufacturing

The FAA will increase oversight of Boeing's 737-9 MAX production line and its suppliers following an Alaska Airlines emergency landing, conducting audits and exploring the use of an independent third party to oversee inspections and quality systems. This comes after a door plug fell off a plane midair, leading to a lawsuit from passengers and the grounding of all 171 Boeing 737 MAX-9 airplanes in the U.S. The FAA has not determined a timeline for returning the aircraft to service.
